Under Wraps - Macrossan Street - opp Coles

Image
Under Wraps is a hive of activity around meal times.  You can dine right on the street and watch the world go by.
At breakfast this Sunday Morning we had the special breakfast wrap and a breakfast baguette with a delicious energy boost drink - $22.50
(One indicator of a of a great eatery is the patronage of locals and they eat there all the time.)
The menu is more extensive that the name suggests.

Palmer Sea Reef - Port Douglas

Image
A hidden Gem provided you don't play golf and then you would know all about it. To us it was another world, an almost old fashioned world and lots of space. The outlook over the greens is expansive adding to the spacious and timeless feel.  The vista allows you to feel you could be at the High Commissioner's residence in Malaysia.

Sea Reef Fish & Chips - 19.5
Salt & Pepper Calamari - 18
HaHa Sauvignon Blanc - 34

Atmosphere, staff and company - priceless

Port Douglas & District Combined Clubs - The Tin Shed

Image
With probably one of the best outlooks of any restaurant in Port Douglas the "Tin Shed" benefits from the new parklands at the waterfront created when the old buildings were demolished in 2012/3.

1 Jul 14. Meals were OK but lack the touches of a truly fine meal. Reasonably priced Chardonay at $23.50, light beer schooner at $4.60, Calamari with salad $14 and Beefburger & chips $15.50. Service is a bit better than visits last year.

Chilly's PIZZA & TRATTORIA

Image
We had been looking forward to dining at Chilly's outside restaurant on our recent trip to Port Douglas for Carnivale 2014. Chilly's is not in the restaurant strip of Macrossan Street but down Grant Street on the corner of Mowbray Street. The weather did not play it's part and we dined inside a big shed with our BYO red wine. The pizzas arrived promptly and were fantastic. We like pizza and red wine and tried other Port Douglas cafes which were ok but not up to the standard of Chilly's. BYO corkage $5.

New gourmet cafe & take away

Image
Tucked away almost out of sight is "Off The Track" a new Port Douglas Restaurant in Warner Street behind Coles underground car-park. It is pleasing to see another BYO restaurant.
