Dave's Takeaway - 3/35 Macrossan Street

We are always looking out for value when dining in Port Douglas and Dave's Takeaway fits right in here.

What makes it even more interesting is the it is close to Rotary Park where there are picnic tables and a toilet.

On 1 Aug 2019 we had:

Cheeseburger $10

Small chips $6

and Spanish Mackerel and chips $11*

* A word to our visitors about our seafood in the tropics. Firstly all seafood here is snap frozen when caught. Secondly the best fish you can buy is not found in tropical waters it is found in colder places like in our southern states - think King George Whiting. Avoid things like "Reef Fish" and Coral Trout. Sounds good but Coral Trout is not much and Reef Fish could be anything.
Go for Barramundi or Spanish Mackerel up here for your best chance at a good piece of fish.

I have fish and chips a lot as you can see from previous blogs.

The best I have had recently is the Little Larder a couple of weeks ago and yesterday Dave's Takeaway.

I always wash it down with a crisp white wine.

So essentially we dined in Macrossan Street for $27 and a bottle of wine from the bottle shop.

Fish and Chips Battered Mackerel, mushy peas, chips, salad & Tartare Sauce - $22 Salt & Pepper Calamari Lemon wedges - $18 Schooner Super Crisp $7.20, 18 Crimes Cabernet Sauvignon $8, Rothbury Sauvignon Blanc $28 Paddy's is one of our favourite lunch stops and has an extensive menu. What we particularly like is that, unlike most restaurants in Port Douglas, they have some wines under $30.  Still not bad for a good lunch - $83.20 Brought to you by: Port Douglas Budget Dining .

Port Douglas Cheap Eats goes live..........

Cheap eats Port Douglas community website app goes live and we are calling on those cafes and restaurants that made the cut to enhance their listings to help pay for the app. All it takes is a $1 per week. A representative from Cheap Eats today remarks: " We do not get paid for making Port Douglas a good place for visitors to come to. Just one restaurant could make a big difference for just $1 per week ." See Cheap Eats Port Douglas:  cheapeats.portdouglas.website .

Port Douglas & District Combined Clubs - The Tin Shed

Lunch at the Tin Shed With probably one of the best outlooks of any restaurant in Port Douglas the "Tin Shed" benefits from the new parklands at the waterfront created when the old buildings were demolished in 2012/3.  1 Jul 14. Meals were OK but lack the touches of a truly fine meal. Reasonably priced Chardonay at $23.50, light beer schooner at $4.60, Calamari with salad $14 and Beefburger & chips $15.50. Service is a bit better than visits last year. Photo: Marketing Daintree .
