The Boat House Restaurant & Wine Bar - Port Douglas

Authentic Ship's Wheel at the top of the spiral stair case

Shop 52 Reef Marina (upstairs)
44 Wharf Street
Port Douglas

Long term locals will remember this venue as FJ's in the late '80's
and later as Oscar's Restaurant.

Now it is a swish restaurant and wine bar with stupendous views over the marina, harbour and rainforest clad mountains.

We went for lunch on the third day:

Hahn light beer ............. $6
Gin and tonic ........ $16
Cape Schanck Pinot Grigio ........... $36
Lamb Tartlet with cucumber yogurt, lemon and paprika ........ $6
Flash fried calamari with paprika, lemon and pink river salt ....... $14
Butter fried Spanish Mackerel with steamed broccolini and bok choy ......... $30
Mixed green salad with olive oil and balsamic dressing ...... $10

Total $118

Comments:

The stand out was the Mackerel, it was simply gorgeous and was head and shoulders
over the usual for lunch in Port Douglas.
At $118.50 for a Thursday lunch we thought it a tad expensive and looking at the drinks bill, the gin and tonic was overpriced and we would have liked to have seen a house wine under $30.

The Reef Marina is bouncing back!

What we particularly like is that, unlike most restaurants in Port Douglas, they have some wines under $30.  Still not bad for a good lunch - $83.20 Brought to you by: Port Douglas Budget Dining .

Port Douglas Cheap Eats goes live..........

Cheap eats Port Douglas community website app goes live and we are calling on those cafes and restaurants that made the cut to enhance their listings to help pay for the app. All it takes is a $1 per week. A representative from Cheap Eats today remarks: " We do not get paid for making Port Douglas a good place for visitors to come to. Just one restaurant could make a big difference for just $1 per week ." See Cheap Eats Port Douglas:  cheapeats.portdouglas.website .

Port Douglas & District Combined Clubs - The Tin Shed

Lunch at the Tin Shed With probably one of the best outlooks of any restaurant in Port Douglas the "Tin Shed" benefits from the new parklands at the waterfront created when the old buildings were demolished in 2012/3.  1 Jul 14. Meals were OK but lack the touches of a truly fine meal. Reasonably priced Chardonay at $23.50, light beer schooner at $4.60, Calamari with salad $14 and Beefburger & chips $15.50. Service is a bit better than visits last year. Photo: Marketing Daintree .
