Monkey Joes - Macrossan Street

Monkey Joes picked up an award for it's bacon last month and so we decided to try it out for breakfast. I forgot my camera and so I have used these images from their Facebook page.

BIG JOES BREAKFAST
House smoked bacon, BBQ pit beans, smashed glazed chat potatoes, slow roast Roma tomato,
artisan sausage, poached eggs w/ cabatta toast. $21.50
The eggs, bacon, toast and tomato were fantastic, the sausage OK, potatoes so so but forget the beans.

SMASHED AVO
Freshly smashed avocado, ciabatta toast, beetroot labneh, preserved lemon w/ spiced Egyptian almond & macadamia dukkah. $13.00 plus house smoked bacon $5

Fish and Chips Battered Mackerel, mushy peas, chips, salad & Tartare Sauce - $22 Salt & Pepper Calamari Lemon wedges - $18 Schooner Super Crisp $7.20, 18 Crimes Cabernet Sauvignon $8, Rothbury Sauvignon Blanc $28 Paddy's is one of our favourite lunch stops and has an extensive menu. Port Douglas Cheap Eats goes live..........

Cheap eats Port Douglas community website app goes live and we are calling on those cafes and restaurants that made the cut to enhance their listings to help pay for the app. All it takes is a $1 per week. A representative from Cheap Eats today remarks: " We do not get paid for making Port Douglas a good place for visitors to come to. Ramada Resort - 316 Port Douglas Road

Our first lunch for the year. We have been here twice before and welcomed the new look furniture. Of course fish and chips (Tempura) for me - $18 With a very expensive bottle of wine - $45 That is too much when you are dining casually on plastic furniture and plastic plates. It was a good Sauvignon Blanc but really for a lunch it should have been about $25 not $45. The fish and chips were OK, I wish they would use Spanish Mackerel instead of Coral Trout but for $18 sit down it was OK. The Steak Sandwich was very good - $22 With a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon - $9 We considered lunch was good and when you think of places in this neck of the woods, Silkara Lagoons, Reef Resort and the Oaks Resort, the Ramada is the clear winner. More on the wine. A couple of days later we had the same wine at a restaurant in Mossman for $25 per bottle, not $45 like the Ramada and we were not sitting on plastic furniture and eating off plastic plate...
